Edward J. (Chip) Miller, Vice Chairman

Edward J. (Chip) Miller serves on the Invest Detroit Board of Directors and as Chairman of its Investment Committee. Mr. Miller manages Invest Detroit’s managed funds’ portfolios with a focus on commercial projects as well as marketing the Fund. He is a 30-year veteran of the banking industry, formerly Executive Vice President at Standard Federal Bank where his strong background in management and finance contributed to the significant growth of Standard Federal’s commercial banking group. Mr. Miller also created Kenwood Advisors, LLC, a management advisory firm specializing in strategic and financial planning, finance strategy and project management services for middle market companies and non-profit entities.

David Blaszkiewicz, President

David Blaszkiewicz manages Invest Detroit, its subsidiaries and affiliated entities. Mr. Blaszkiewicz leads Invest Detroit’s economic development efforts and collaborates with the public, private and philanthropic sectors to develop partnerships and strategic plans to support community initiatives and job creation. Prior to his position as president of Invest Detroit, Mr. Blaszkiewicz served as Director of Finance, and Secretary/Treasurer of Detroit Renaissance, a non-profit organization now known as Business Leaders for Michigan, that brought the business community’s leadership and resources together to encourage and facilitate the physical and economic revitalization of Detroit. Mr. Blaszkiewicz joined the organization in 1990 and participated in the management of projects related to finance, transportation, the environment and technology. In 1994, he facilitated the creation of the Detroit Investment Fund by developing the operating and management plan, managing the capital campaign and coordinating its private placement offering memorandum.

Karl Bell, Senior Vice President

Karl Bell joined Invest Detroit in 2005 and assists in managing the portfolio, marketing the Fund and working with its challenged assets. He has over 20 years of commercial banking and underwriting experience. Most recently he served as Vice President and Senior Managing Director of the Municipals and Non-Profit Group at Fifth Third Bank, Eastern MI. Prior to joining Fifth Third, Mr. Bell managed the Professional Services Group for LaSalle Bank, MI. He started his banking career in 1983 with National Bank of Detroit and held various positions in the areas of Middle Market, National and Asset-based lending.

Mary Seaberg King, Vice President

Mary Seaberg King joined Invest Detroit in 2009 with over 20 years of commercial banking and underwriting experience. Most recently, she served as Vice President of Commercial Lending at Detroit Commerce Bank. Ms. King manages the Urban Retail Loan Fund, designed to provide lending support to small and mid-sized retail businesses in targeted areas of Greater Downtown Detroit and the nonprofit predevelopment and land acquisition funding programs. Ms. King also manages Invest Detroit’s New Markets Tax Credit Fund.

Mahendra Ramsinghani, Managing Director of the First Step Fund

Mahendra Ramsinghani joined the Invest Detroit team with over 12 years of experience in the areas of fostering the growth of early-stage technology and life sciences businesses, deal sourcing, due diligence, fundraising and portfolio management. He is experienced in identifying commercially viable businesses, managing investments and in building client/customer relationships that are critical for emerging businesses.
